Lifting industry professionals working with overhead cranes, hoists and rigging equipment in onshore, offshore and marine applications attended the inaugural LEEA Lifting & Rigging Conference Asia, which took place in Singapore last month (June), in strong numbers.

Delegates, who received 10 SDU Points and other accreditations if they attend two full days of the conference, were welcomed by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower while the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers (SISO) and the Singapore Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council were among other supporting organisations.

Two days of high level, technical papers followed with a presentation from Mick Hoyle, crane, rigging and lifting specialist at oil and gas giant ExxonMobil; and a workshop delivered by Richard Marcotte, a trainer at Industrial Training International, among the highlights of the event for many.

LEEA chief executive Geoff Holden said: “I was delighted by the high level of support from both exhibitors and delegates for our inaugural event. A mixed programme of speakers engaged the audience who remained attentive to the end. My thanks to everyone involved especially Bridger Howes for their effective organisation, the LEEA staff, our exhibitors and sponsors. I look forward to our next major event—LiftEx 2015 in Liverpool this November.”
