A second, high-level, regional conference has been launched—the LEEA Lifting & Rigging Conference Middle East will take place at the Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, 14-15 December 2015.

After the successful staging of the LEEA Lifting & Rigging Conference Asia last month (June) in Singapore, the announcement that a Dubai event will offer two days of presentations and networking for lifting industry professionals working with cranes, hoists and rigging equipment in the Middle East will be warmly received by professionals in the region.

Mark Bridger, a director at LEEA’s organising partner Bridger Howes Limited, said: “The spotlight has well and truly returned to Dubai and the Middle East ahead of the World Expo 2020, which will take place there in five years time. As the region pioneers new paths of development and innovation it is important that an annual, safety-themed lifting conference positions itself to serve those working in construction, urban development and infrastructure projects over the years leading up to the mega show and beyond.”

LEEA is established across the globe as the leading representative body for all those involved in the lifting industry worldwide. It is the respected and authoritative representative body for those who work in every aspect of the industry, from design, manufacture, refurbishment and repair, through to the hire, maintenance and use of lifting equipment.

The global lifting authority has increased its presence in the Middle East over recent years and will play a key role in a geography improving safety and innovation in crane, hoist and rigging applications. The event tagline—“Advancing crane and hoist safety with the leading representative body for the lifting industry worldwide”—captures that concept.

Safety-themed content will be prevalent throughout the agenda. Early presentations sourced from safety leaders in the region include a paper from Compact Lifting Group, which distributes industry leading lifting and safety systems throughout Europe, North America and the Middle East. Delegates will learn how a wireless, hook-mounted camera system attaches to the hook block of a crane and delivers video to the operator in the cab.

LEEA will also update attendees on its current work with standards bodies, industry stakeholders and governments raising health and safety standards in the lifting industry before introducing them to its Academy and TEAM card initiatives and apply their benefits to users of lifting equipment in Dubai and the Middle East.

A technical paper will also be delivered by Modulift, a supplier of spreader beams, lifting beams and other below-the-hook lifting equipment.
