[D901#], one of the world’s new generation of ultra deepwater rigs sets sail from Yantai CIMC Raffles shipyard. This rig is a semi-submersible drilling unit. Jian Feng Sling Co., Ltd supplies the towing system for the drilling unit.
The towing system Jian Feng Sling supplies includes:
1. Not less than two towing eyes and fairleads where towing chains can go through.
2. Towing eyes which work at 1.3 times the breaking strength of main towing ropes or towing chains.
3. Towing lines connect the towing ship and the drilling unit. The breaking strength of towing lines should be the same as main towing line or main towing chains.
4. Winches to pull in the towing lines or the towing system.
What is [D901#]
[D901#] is one of the world’s new generation of ultra deepwater and dual-derrick drilling rigs. Based on the original design of Frigstad D90 (by Frigstad Engineering), [D901#] is developed and built by CIMC Raffles, who carries out detailed design, construction design and testing of the drilling unit. With length of 117m, width of 92.7m and height of 118m, [D901#] is equipped with DP3 dynamic positioning system.
The rig of [D901#] operates at the maximum operating water depth of 3,658m and drilling depth capacity of 15,240m, suitable for operations in deepwater globally. Compared with single-derrick drilling rig, [D901#] is 30% higher in efficiency and 10% more in energy-saving thanks to the high-efficiency hydraulic dual derrick design and global leading company Siemens’s close ring dynamic system.
[D901#] is certified by DNV and it sets sails for the first time in early September for the testing of the drilling unit. [D901#] is owned by China National Petroleum Corporation Offshore Engineering Company, and it will come into use by the end of this year for exploring the offshore O&G.

Meanwhile, the company supplies wire rope slings with diameter of 132mm and 116mm as well as lifting equipment with high strength of 200T and 150T for the rig.
In July 2012, Jian Feng Sling supplies the complete towing system, such as B58 shackles, towing chains, galvanized wire ropes and towing plates for [Super M2 Jack-Up Rig], which is built by CIMC Raffles.
In May 2013, the company provides the completed towing system, such as 225T towing plates, 225T towing bollards, 225T Panama fairleads and towing ropes with breaking strength of 450T for [CJ46 jack-up drilling rig], which is built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company and the rig is owned by Prospector Offshore Drilling Company.
In May 2014, Jian Feng Sling supplies the towing system, such as B500 fairleads, galvanized wire ropes with diameter of 68mm, and AM3-56 stud link anchor chains for [R-550D Jackup Rig], which is built by CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding Company.
